Cookie Notice
A short, honest list of everything fons.vc stores on your device. We measure traffic with anonymous, cookieless analytics (PostHog, EU) that stores nothing on your device and needs no consent; an analytics cookie is set only if you accept. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no session recording.
What we use
We keep this minimal. By default our analytics (PostHog) runs cookieless — it counts page views anonymously using only short-lived page memory, so nothing is stored on your device and no consent is required. If you accept, we additionally set one analytics cookie for more accurate, cross-visit measurement. One local storage value holds your theme preference, one holds your consent choice, and signed-in sessions use a strictly-necessary sign-out signal. Everything is listed below.
| Name | Where | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
fons-theme |
Browser localStorage | Remembers your light or dark theme choice so the site doesn't flash on reload. | Until you clear browser data. |
fons-cookie-consent |
Browser localStorage | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we don't ask again. Strictly necessary to honour your choice. | Until you clear browser data. |
fons-auth-event |
Browser localStorage | Strictly necessary. A transient cross-tab sign-out signal on signed-in sessions, so signing out in one tab signs you out everywhere. Holds no personal data. | Transient — overwritten and cleared in use. |
ph_…_posthog |
Cookie + localStorage | Product analytics (PostHog) — only set if you accept. A random visitor ID so repeat visits and page sequences can be counted. No name, email, or account data is attached to it. | 1 year, or until you clear browser data. |
The fons- values are strictly functional — they hold a UI preference or your consent choice, nothing more, and under UK GDPR / PECR don't require prior consent. The cookieless baseline stores nothing on your device, so it needs no consent either. Only the ph_…_posthog cookie requires consent — it's set solely if you click Accept, and you can change or withdraw your choice anytime via “Cookie settings” in the footer (rejecting reverts us to the cookieless baseline).
Our analytics, configured for privacy
We use PostHog for product analytics. We've set it up to collect as little as possible:
- EU hosting. Data is sent to PostHog's EU region (
eu.i.posthog.com) and stored in the EU. - Anonymised IP addresses. Your IP is anonymised before it is stored.
- No session recording. We have explicitly disabled session replay — we do not record your screen, mouse, or keystrokes.
- No names or emails. Events are tied to a random visitor ID. If you accept cookies and are signed in, events are instead linked to a pseudonymous account identifier so we can measure real product usage — still never your name or email, and withdrawing consent unlinks it.
- Form values are masked. Anything you type into a field is not captured.
- Cookieless by default. Until you accept, analytics counts page views anonymously from short-lived page memory only — no cookies, no local storage, nothing kept on your device. This needs no consent.
- Cookies only if you accept. Accepting adds one cookie (a longer-lived random visitor ID) for cross-visit measurement; you can withdraw anytime via “Cookie settings”, which reverts to the cookieless baseline.
What we don't use
- No Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tag, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any other advertising or remarketing tracker.
- No session-replay or screen recording (PostHog's replay feature is switched off).
- No third-party fonts loaded from CDNs — our fonts are self-hosted.
- No social-media embeds that drop cookies.
- No cross-site tracking, no behavioural profiling, no fingerprinting, no selling of data.
If we change how analytics works — for example enabling session recording, or adding any advertising or cross-site tracking — we will update this page first.
What our email service uses
Our transactional and product-update emails are sent via Resend. Like most email services, Resend may include a tracking pixel and link wrappers in delivered messages so we can see basic deliverability metrics (whether an email was opened, whether a link was clicked). These are not cookies on this site, but they are tracking technologies in email. You can disable image loading in your email client to block the pixel, and you can hover over a link to see its destination before you click.
Change your choice or clear what's stored
You can change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time — as easily as you gave it:
This reopens the consent banner so you can switch between Accept and Reject. Rejecting removes the analytics cookie tier and reverts to the cookieless baseline. To remove what's already stored, clear "site data" for fons.vc in your browser settings (this clears the cookie and local storage); in most browsers you can also press F12, open the "Application" or "Storage" tab, find https://fons.vc, and remove the entries listed above.
